This is a classic, crime-thriller in the mould of Frederick Forsythe and Jack Higgins —with an additional bonus of a who-done-it —partially influenced by Agatha Christie. Set, initially, in 1943 a major initiative is planned, by the hierarchy of the Nazi SS, to undertake a major coupe against the British Government.

The details of this plot were partially uncovered by the French Resistance, with the capture, interrogation and eventual elimination of a senior SS Officer.

This information - subsequently despatched to Britain by SOE — and contained in a coded document, remained hidden in an underground bunker in the depths of a disused wartime Airfield until 2003.

Stephen Halliwell, a Seven-Four-Seven Captain for Intercontinental Airlines, Chief Superintendent Alex Hastings and others, including Reece Jefferson, head of an undercover, Home Office investigative department, D16; with unlimited powers, finally discover the meaning of the recently found document — courtesy of Bletchley Park — which leads them, eventually, to the connection between "Operation Omega", and a spate of professionally organised jewel robberies occurring throughout Europe and the UK.

Stephen Halliwell, Alex Hastings and Reece Jefferson piece together the entire plot, but not before three prominent people have been murdered — all having a connection with "Operation Omega".
