Ball To Raise Funds For Cancer Research
#1
A Valentine's Ball fundraiser in aid of cancer research will take place on Saturday 09th February at the 5* hotel in Fota Island Resort in Cork.

The blacktie event, organised by Breakthrough Cancer Research in aid of Cork Cancer Research Centre, is now in its 22nd year and is one of 'go to fundraising events' of the 2013 Cork social calendar.

Tickets for the event, which is being hosted by Master of Ceremonies former Cork hurler and sports pundit Tomás Mulcahy, cost €130 per person and include a champagne reception, a gourmet 4 course meal, goody bags, a fantastic range of tombola prizes, music with dance floor fillers 'Brass and Co' (an exciting ten-piece live band that offer a mix of music including Classical, Big Band, Swing, Disco, Motown, R&B, Rock & Roll and all of the top tunes from the 70's, 80's and 90's) and special guest musical and comedy performances which are sure to entertain well into the night.

A special tribute will also be made to the late Professor Gerry O'Sullivan, Founder of Cork Cancer Research Centre whose first anniversary coincides with this year's Valentine's Ball.

Orla Dolan, Director of Fundraising at Breakthrough Cancer Research, said 'Our Valentine's Ball is the perfect way to spend a romantic evening with that someone special...or maybe an opportunity to meet someone new...whilst also raising much-needed funds to develop new treatments for the most difficult to treat cancers, those which currently do not respond to conventional therapies."

Orla went onto say that: "Monies raised at the annual Valentine's Ball, which raised close to €40,000 last year, will further drive research leading to new effective therapies for cancer patients all over Ireland and abroad. So why not whisk your loved one away and help us make a breakthrough. '
