The Competition Authority and National Consumer Agency today welcomed the publication of the Competition and Consumer Protection Bill which will merge the two organisations to form the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission. The Chambers of Ennis, Galway, Limerick and Shannon, which represent 1,355 members with a combined employment level of 45,700, have today (Friday, 21 March 2014) called on the Government to prioritise the passing of the Shannon Aviation Services and Miscellaneous Provisions Bill 2013 to facilitate the incorporation of the new Shannon Group plc and the associated amalgamation of Shannon Development into the new entity.
