Six small Irish businesses were this week (Sunday 12th August) announced as winners of the first ‘Your Business on Irish TV’ competition, giving them the opportunity to promote and sell their products on television for the first time.

The competition, a joint initiative between Shopping from Home, a home shopping series aired on RTÉ and the County and City Enterprise Boards, has a total prize fund of €60,000 with each of the six companies winning the opportunity to have their products feature on the Shopping From Home series for one month, beginning on September 1st. As well as a 45 minutes broadcasting package, including filming and post production, the companies will also receive support in marketing, PR and social media.

The judging process, overseen by Kathy Hoffman, founder and Managing Director of Shopping from Home and creator of this unique competition, chose the six winners from a shortlist of twenty award-winning Irish businesses, nominated by their local County and City Enterprise Board.

The ‘Your Business on Irish TV’ competition winners are: Bunbury Boards (Wooden Chopping Boards – William Bunbury) from Carlow; Rynhart Fine-Art Bronze Gifts (Sculptor Frames and Lamps – Audrey Elliot) from West Cork; Slated (Slate Tableware – Tara Hammond) from Dublin, WeSolve Ltd. (Sure Step Ladder Stabiliser – Michael Gallagher) from Galway; Quick Crop (Timber Raised Vegetable Kit – Andrew Davidson) from Sligo and The Chocolate Garden of Ireland (Chocolate and Confectionary Gifts – Jim Healy) from Wicklow.

At the announcement, Kathy Hoffman, Series Producer and Presenter of Shopping from Home congratulated the winners, saying: “We were delighted at the level of competition from the twenty shortlisted companies and it made for some very difficult decisions in picking the six winners. The winning companies, however, impressed us as high quality, innovative, competitive businesses with broad appeal and we look forward to bringing their products to the national stage. As home-grown, quality Irish businesses, these companies deserve our support and we are encouraging people to get behind them and Buy Irish.”

Sheelagh Daly from the County and City Enterprise Boards said; “The announcement today highlights the wealth of strong businesses that exist in Ireland’s SME sector. These companies now have a unique opportunity to introduce their product and brand to a wider audience, which will lead to new opportunities for sales, new openings for business and will ultimately be of great benefit to the future of the business.”

The six winning companies will have their products featured on the home shopping series for one month, with a new winner being featured each month. The package includes 45 minutes of broadcasting for the month including free filming and post production as well as national and regional PR and Social Media support. The winning companies will also be provided with a broadcast quality website link to upload their footage onto their website and a DVD to allow them showcase their products at exhibitions or trade fairs in the future.

Shopping from Home was first broadcast in 2010 and is screened on RTE One television every morning at 7.30am- 8.00am Monday to Sunday.
