Moscow – Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Indian counterpart, Salman Khurshid, who is currently in Moscow on an official visit, are to hold talks today.

A Russian Foreign Ministry official said on Tuesday that the two ministers would review the implementation of the accords reached during Russian President Vladimir Putin's official visit to India in December 2012.

The foreign ministers of Russia and India will discuss preparations for the forthcoming contacts at summit level, as well as for a RIC (Russia, India, China) Ministerial Meeting and bilateral and international matters of current importance.

"Special attention will be devoted to the situation in Syria, the Middle East, and North Africa, and to interaction within the UN framework, as well as in the formats of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) and SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization)," the Ministry official said.

During the visit, Minister Khurshid, who is also the Co-Chairman of the Russo-Indian Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) on trade, economic, scientific, technical, and cultural cooperation, will also attend the IGC's 19th session.

The Commission is co-chaired on the Russian side by Vice-Premier Dmitry Rogozin. – SAnews.gov.za Itar-Tass
