Dick Jalkut, president and CEO of U.S. TelePacific Corp., which does business as TelePacific Communications (TelePacific), a communications and network services company, has been singled out by industry publication FierceTelecom as one of “10 competitive telecom executives to watch in 2011.” The honorees were selected based on their record of creating a profitable business, setting trends and opening new markets, and changing market direction through advocacy and education.

Sean Buckley, senior editor of FierceTelecom, writes that Jalkut is “known for checking every customer issue report and maintaining the simple philosophy that the customer always comes first,” a doctrine he has fostered throughout his 40-year telecom career beginning at the former NYNEX Telephone Companies, now Verizon, where he served in several capacities including president, CEO and Chairman before leading the startup of Pathnet Telecom for four years and eventually taking the reins of TelePacific in 2002.

“I’m honored to be recognized by FierceTelecom as an executive to watch,” says Jalkut. “However, our success over the last few years is more of a testament to the hard work and dedication of our employees. They are as passionate as I am about becoming the premier telecommunications provider in all the markets we serve, and they’re the reason why we have so much momentum going into 2012.”

FierceTelecom’s Buckley highlights TelePacific’s acquisitions of Tel West Network Services, Telekenex, Covad Wireless, O1 Communications and Orange County Internet Xchange (OCiX, Inc.), asserting that its acquisitive strategy over the past two years has been complemented by the ongoing expansion of its business services portfolio to include a wide mix of data services such as enhanced Ethernet and wireless bandwidth, datacenter colocation and hosted IP-based voice.

He concludes that going into 2012, TelePacific, already named one of Inc. magazine’s fastest growing private companies for five years running, will continue on a growth path with new products and enhancements designed to satisfy the multi-site business customer.
