The Chartered Accountants Leinster Society

The Chartered Accountants Leinster Society has announced the shortlist for its Published Accounts Awards for 2012.

The Awards, sponsored by the Irish Stock Exchange, reward companies for excellence in financial reporting in Ireland and this year’s shortlist includes a total of 24 companies, not-for-profit organisations and charities.

The winners will be announced at a luncheon in The Shelbourne Hotel on Thursday, 22 November, 2012.

The finalists are as follows:
Large Quoted Companies Smurfit Kappa Group CRH Kingspan Elan Kerry Group DCC Paddy Power. Small/Medium Quoted Companies Grafton Group UTV Irish Continental Group Aer Lingus Greencore Statutory Unquoted Large Entities Central Bank Irish Aviation Authority Bord Gáis ESBNTR Enterprise Securities Market Petro celtic FyffesTotal Produce CPL Resources Not For Profit / Charities IE Domain Registry Concern Mary Robinson Barnardos Investment Funds GLG Technology Fund Audited Magna Financial GLG Investments VI plc Strategic Active Trading Funds plc

In addition to the sectional awards, there will also be an Overall Winners Award from across all categories, a Social Responsibility Reporting Award and a Branding, Communication & Marketing Award.

Among the winners of last year’s awards were CRH plc (Large Quoted Company category), UTV plc (Small/Medium Quoted Company category), ESB (Statutory unquoted large entities category) and Fyffes (Enterprise Securities Market). Concern won the award for the Not For Profit / Charities category. Last year’s recipient of the newly introduced Investment Funds category was Magna Financial with Elan picking up the Branding, Communication & Marketing Award. CRH plc received the award for Social Responsibility Reporting.

Commenting on the 2012 awards, Johnny McElhinney, Chairman, Chartered Accountants Leinster Society, said: “Now in their 35th year, these awards continue to promote and reward excellence in the presentation of annual published financial accounts. Today’s shortlist represents the very best standards in the country. ”Ms. Deirdre Somers, Chief Executive of the Irish Stock Exchange, said that the ISE is pleased to sponsor the PAA Awards as they set an important benchmark for the corporate community in relation to financial reporting. “Delivering accurate, informative and transparent financial information is a key attribute of best in class companies and acts as an enabler for them to attract investors at home and internationally.

This year’s shortlist represents those Irish companies who meet these important reporting challenges and set the standards for others to follow.”
