Demand For Pilots Remain As Jet Set Turns Sixty

Flight Training

Flight Training

Aspiring pilots to attend exhibition six decades after first commercial jet flight.

Sixty years after the first jet airliner carried fare paying passengers, The Professional Flight Training Exhibition, taking place in Dublin in early March, expects to welcome many young hopefuls looking to pursue a career as a professional pilot.  This exciting one day career exhibition on how to become an airline pilot will take place on Saturday March 3rd at the Convention Centre Dublin.

In May 1952, the jet engine de Havilland DH 106 Comet left London on the world’s first commercial scheduled service landing in Johannesburg, South Africa.  The flight took twenty three hours and thirty eight minutes. Six decades later, nearly eight hundred million passengers are carried by jet airliners across Europe every year*(Eurostat, Passenger Transport Statistics Explained, Sept 2011) with the aircraft manufacturer Boeing forecasting the need for 448,000 new airline pilots to enter the industry over the next twenty years worldwide**(FlightGlobal.com, “Future Pilot Supply For the Airlines”, Sept 2010).

With these future opportunities in mind, the Professional Flight Training Exhibition will help prospective pilots understand the requirements, prospects and costs of becoming a fully trained commercial pilot.  “The aim of the exhibition is to educate and advise visitors on what is required to become a pilot”, says Darran Ward, Exhibition Manager, “and it is the perfect opportunity for visitors to speak to the airlines, world leading training providers and experts in one venue.”

The exhibition is supported by industry leaders Aer Lingus, the publication ‘Flying in Ireland’,the UK publication ‘Flyer’ and Simtech Aviation Training Ltd.,  a company based in Swords, Co. Dublin that provides training services to the aviation industry.  Sé Pardy, Director of Simtech Aviation Training and an active commercial pilot is looking forward to the event.  “Working in the aviation industry is a challenging, hugely rewarding experience with opportunities for travel, advancement and excellent remuneration”, says Pardy.  “This exhibition is an absolute must for anyone considering a career in this industry as a professional pilot.”

The Professional Flight Training Exhibition will take place at The Convention Centre, Dublin on 3rd March 2012 from 10am to 5pm.  Entry is €10
