The Glam Camping Company is the brainchild of former nurse, Ali Torkington, who is a big fan of camping, but feels the gear needs a serious revamp.

“I go to France camping during the summer holidays with my three children, which we all love,” she says.

“But most of the camping kit available is very disappointing –  why does everything have to look so dowdy, just because you are outside?  I hunted high and low for attractive but practical bits and pieces to take with me on trips, and it was then that I spotted a gap in the market for a one-stop shop for funky camping gear.”

Ali’s range includes fabulous striped bell tents, colourful coolboxes, jaunty stools in a range of colours, pretty plates and mugs, as well as handy items like a collapsible kettle.

The glam nature of Ali’s kit means that you don’t have to simply use it for the occasional camping trip, it’s great for a summer barbecue, or a smart picnic,  an evening at Glyndebourne, or a festival, if you are fed-up with roughing it too much.

Ali is also at pains to ensure that her range does not break the bank.

“There is something there for everybody,” she says. “You can go the whole hog and deck out your tent like a exotic pavilion, or you can treat yourself to a few cheap and cheerful items that brighten up your days under canvas.”
