Kate Nash launches third album, ‘Girl Talk’ at St Martins Lane in London.

The celebrity-packed event ushered in the platinum selling, multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter’s highly anticipated third album. Written on the bass guitar, lending Kate’s new sound a more raw punk feel, she says, “It’s definitely a pop record, but has a new sound and feel to it. I played bass in a punk band called The Receeders for a couple of years and I love how powerful playing bass and using my voice like that made me feel. ʻGirl Talkʼ is full of colour, pop harmonies and melodies, and I feel like my voice has matured and that I can do more with it. Music is my escapism and vice, and my life is in every song. I’m happy to share the next chapter.”

Kate looked stunning in a floor length red Alberta Ferretti gown, a Piaget ring, Terry de Havilland shoes and an Angel Jackson handbag.

Attendees included Gemma Cairney, VV Brown, Chris O’Dowd, Dawn Porter, Gizzi Erskine, Sheridan Smith, Ollie Locke, Adam Burridge, Noelle Reno, Emmy the Great, Russell Tovey, Damian Jones, Percy Parker from PPQ, Daniela and Annette Felder of Felder Felder and William Tempest.

Kate’s friends, industry insiders and some of Kate’s most avid followers celebrated the new album with a party at London’s exclusive St Martins Lane hotel.  Guests enjoyed drinks from Light Bar and canapés from Asia de Cuba, including Mini Fish & Chips, Vegetable Tartlets with goat’s cheese and the restaurant’s infamous Mini Mexican Doughnuts.

The British style icon and musical powerhouse was celebrated in 2008 with the highest accolade in British music, taking home a Brit Award, famed for her pop song, ʻFoundationsʼ, which highlighted Kateʼs unparalleled knack for songwriting and genius lyricism.

A bold and passionate album, ‘Girl Talk’ serves as a mission statement about what it’s like to be a girl. “Working with an all-girl band is incredibly liberating as well as being brilliant fun. I really believe in women being able to be whatever they want to be.”

The accompanying videos for ʻGirl Talkʼ echo the strength of females found in Tarantino films, namely the video for ʻDeath Proofʼ, which was inspired by the same named Tarantino film. “I greatly admire how Tarantino empowers women.”

The 15-track record will delight Kate’s fans and invite a host of new music lovers to the British indie pop rocker. The full album was recorded and mastered in LA with the Grammy Award winning producer Tom Biller.

The official ‘Girl Talk’ cocktails were made by Light Bar using Imperial Collection Vodka, classic G&Ts were made with Oliver Twist Gin, beer was from WJ King, cupcakes were by Cakehole, flowers were by Laura Kuy Flowers, the hoola hoop performance by the majorettes from Marawa The Amazing, and the DJ lineup included The Broken Hearts and Radio 1 DJ Gemma Cairney. Guests also received a signed copy of ‘Girl Talk’.
