Tricia McCarthy Memorial Scholarship
The many fundraising initiatives by House of Fraser in support of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI) in recent months have lead to the formation of a new scholarship at the Institute, ‘The Tricia McCarthy Memorial Scholarship’. Over the last eighteen months House of Fraser raised an incredible €25,000 for the breast cancer charity at their Dundrum store. The Scholarship is named after Tricia McCarthy, sister of well-known beauty writer Triona McCarthy who has become a champion for NBCRI since her sister was diagnosed with the disease in 2007. Wednesday 18th January 2012: Sculptor Paddy Campbell’s Christmas Street Exhibition in Bewley’s Grafton Street has raised €5080 through public donations for the charity Heart Children Ireland. Third Dip in the Nip Launched
The third ‘Dip in the Nip’ will take place on a beach in the northwest of Ireland on Saturday 25th June. This innovative fundraiser was the brainchild of Sligo woman Máire Garvey, who came up with the idea of a small sponsored all-female skinny dip, in 2009, in order to raise money for the Irish Cancer Society.
